Relocating for a job is a significant decision, especially when it involves moving to a different country. For Prabhakar B, this decision was fueled by his passion for cutting-edge technology and his desire to be part of Germany’s growing semiconductor industry. Through intap’s international recruiting program #HalloIndia, Prabhakar secured a position at Siliconally in Dresden, beginning an exciting new chapter in his career and life.
Passion for Semiconductors leads to Germany
Prabhakar’s love for semiconductors drove him to seek opportunities abroad. While living in India, he closely followed Germany’s progress in the semiconductor field and wanted to be a part of it. When he learned about the job opening at Siliconally through the #HalloIndia Program, he knew it was the right fit.
“I’ve always been passionate about working in the semiconductor industry, and I was closely following how this sector was evolving in Germany. When I learned about the opportunity at Siliconally through #HalloIndia Program, I knew I had to go for it,” Prabhakar recalls.
Siliconally’s work in functional safety and automotive innovation matched his career goals perfectly, especially since he had significant experience in the automotive sector. Germany’s investment in semiconductor companies also made the move appealing.
Discovering Dresden as a Semiconductor Hub
Although Prabhakar knew Germany was a leader in semiconductors, he didn’t initially know much about Dresden. But as he learned more about the job at Siliconally, he discovered that Dresden, and the state of Saxony, are major hubs for semiconductor companies.
“Honestly, I didn’t know much about Dresden specifically. I was aware that Germany was making significant strides in the semiconductor industry, but it was only after learning about the opportunity at Siliconally that I started researching Dresden and Saxony. I discovered that Saxony is a major hub for semiconductor companies and that the region is actively contributing to the industry’s growth,” Prabhakar says.
Realizing Dresden’s importance in the semiconductor industry made his decision to move even easier.
A Structured and Supportive Recruitment Process
Prabhakar’s journey with Siliconally began when the #HalloIndia Program team reached out to him. After ensuring that the proposed role matched his experience, they forwarded his profile to Siliconally.
The hiring process included three interviews, with continuous support from the #HalloIndia team. Their guidance, especially in preparing for the final interview, was key to his success. Within a few weeks, Prabhakar received a job offer.
A Smooth Relocation to Dresden
Once Prabhakar accepted the offer, he faced the challenge of relocating to Dresden. Moving to a new country can be tough, but Siliconally and the intap network made the process smooth.
“Siliconally was very supportive and provided all the required documents quickly. After receiving the job offer, I resigned from my previous company and immediately booked an appointment for my visa, which I got within a few days. The process was very fast and smooth,” Prabhakar shares.
Before he moved, intap network provided helpful information on booking temporary accommodation, which made the transition easier. This support continued after his arrival, helping him settle in quickly.
Overcoming Language Barriers and Embracing Life in Dresden
One of the biggest challenges Prabhakar faced was the language barrier. While Dresden is a welcoming city, not everyone speaks English fluently, which made certain tasks, like understanding rental contracts, more difficult. However, with the help of technology and supportive locals, he managed.
“I used Google Translate for the rental contract, which worked well enough. Fortunately, my Airbnb host was very supportive. He spoke English and even helped me with the city registration process by preparing all the necessary documents,” Prabhakar recalls.
Dresden’s rich history and peaceful environment quickly won Prabhakar over. The city’s calm lifestyle made it easier for him to adjust. “Dresden is a very nice city—it’s quiet, calm, and less crowded than other big cities in Germany. It’s also less explored, which gives it a unique charm,” Prabhakar notes.
Adapting to a New Role at Siliconally
On the job, Prabhakar’s transition to his new role at Siliconally was smooth. While his responsibilities differed slightly from his previous job, the company’s onboarding and training helped him adjust quickly.
“My current role is slightly different from my previous one, but it’s been a great learning experience. I initially started with verification tasks before moving into validation, which aligns well with my background,” Prabhakar explains.
Siliconally’s focus on training allowed Prabhakar to quickly integrate into the team and start contributing to projects early on.

Now that Prabhakar has settled into his new job and life in Dresden, he is looking forward to bringing his family to join him. He hopes to relocate them before the next year.
