Who is Freiberg Institut?

The Freiberg Institut is a young, innovative IT startup and stands for intelligent, new solutions in the areas of heat, electricity and mobility. We market our B2B optimization platform Edgar for the holistic evaluation of complex systems. In doing so, we develop various use cases for our customers as a SaaS solution. With our ideas, we want to make a decisive contribution to the successful integration of decentralized and self-supplied systems and solutions based on green energy sources in the future energy world. Our customer focus is on the energy and housing industry and its partners.

What do you value most in an applicant?

Above all, there must be a human connection and the applicant must fit into the team. In addition, independent working methods and the desire to take on responsibility are important. In addition to an interest in topics related to the energy industry and software development, applicants must be willing to think outside the box and work across disciplines/topics. Depending on the position, initial knowledge of relevant programming languages or in the area of simulation (MatLab, SimuLink) is desirable.

Saxony and the Dresden region offer us as a company…

… numerous opportunities for cooperation and networking with partners from the housing and energy industries but also from politics. The range of educational opportunities in Saxony is very extensive and enables us to attract well-trained graduates for our topic. Furthermore, Freiberg offers a high quality of life due to its location, not least due to a diverse range of cultural and leisure activities in the cities of Dresden, Leipzig and Chemnitz. For nature lovers, Saxon Switzerland or the Erzgebirge are right on the doorstep.

If your company was an animal, what would it be and why?

Our role model is nature, which constantly adapts to conditions in every respect and thus optimizes itself. With our product, the planning and optimization software Edgar, we want to achieve this for decision-making in the planning of complex energy systems. If we were to choose an animal, it would be a crane – with a large wingspan and optimal flight technique, cranes use rising winds to “spiral” upwards.
